Consulate Johannesburg issued the following Warden Message:
"The Palestine Solidarity Committee
is scheduled to hold a lawful gathering in front of the U.S. Consulate
General building on Friday, January 2, 2009, from 1400 to 1700.
The purpose of the gathering is to protest against Israeli
military operations currently underway in
Gaza and U.S.
support for
Israel.
Event organizers anticipate approximately 50 participants.
Official Embassy personnel have been advised to avoid traveling
to/from the Consulate building from 1400 to 1700.

while traveling, alter your route and avoid driving or walking near the
demonstration. Even demonstrations intended to be
peaceful can turn confrontational and possibly escalate into violence.
American citizens are urged to avoid any areas where demonstrations and
marches are planned and exercise caution when in the vicinity of any
protest. American citizens may consult local media for updates on the
demonstration."
