Frequently Asked Questions
About MEDJET Air Ambulance Programs

Q: As a MEDJET Assistance member, if I want to be transported from one hospital to another in
medical emergency, are all my costs covered? Everything
?

A: As long as an enrolled member meets the required inpatient criteria at both the referring and receiving hospitals (facilities), then MEDJET Assistance provides all reasonable and necessary transport services from bedside to bedside.

Q: Who makes the decision as to whether I am transported, the attending physician where I am
hospitalized, my personal Doctor at home, or myself?

A: While the MEDJET medical department consults with both your personal physician and the local attending physician as to what course of action is in the member's best interest, as long as the member meets the transport criteria (inpatient status at both ends), and all safety issued have been considered, then it is the member's ultimate decision as to whether or not they are transported.

Q: How many transports am I allowed per year?

A: Two transports per year per membership. Except in the case of a common accident involving multiple family members, in which case each and every member of the enrolled family will receive one transport.

Q: In a medical emergency how long will it take after my initial phone call to you, before
I am moved to the hospital of my choice?

A: In most cases MEDJET aircraft or affiliate aircraft can be launched within hours of a call. This is obviously dependent on how accessible the member is to some form of landing strip that can accommodate either a MEDJET aircraft or an affiliate aircraft.

Q:   Will you rescue me in any medical emergency no matter where the location?

A: No. We cannot guarantee evacuation from remote locations that do not have an accessible
       landing strip.

Q: Under the MEDJET Assistance Family Plan membership, are my children also covered while
       at college?

A: Yes. Full-time students are covered up to the age of twenty-three.

Q: Do you have a separate program specifically designed for college students?

A: Yes. Individual students while attending a university or traveling more than 150 miles from home can choose to have domestic or international MEDJET Assistance membership protection at a special reduced student price.

Q: Do you have the resources to transport my entire family if all of us were involved in a medical
       emergency and subsequently hospitalized?

A: Yes. MEDJET aircraft have the capability of transporting up to two critical patients simultaneously, as well as dispatching multiple aircraft at one time. With our affiliate network, we also have the capability of transporting several non-acute patients at once on a common aircraft.

Q: Doesn't my current health care insurance cover emergency evacuations?

A: The vast majority of traditional health providers do not provide coverage for air medical evacuation and transportation services. If there is some coverage of this type, it will likely contain restrictions and significant out of pocket costs. Check with your provider for specific details.

Q: How do you transport people from remote locations, which may be unsuitable for jet
       aircraft?

A: MEDJET Assistance has a network of affiliate air medical providers throughout the world. Many of these have specialized capabilities allowing them to get into more remote areas that cannot accommodate MEDJET aircraft. However, regardless of the provider, MEDJET Assistance will supervise the whole process start to finish.

Q: How can you do everything at such a low membership price? Where's the catch?

A: There is no catch! We believe in charging a fair price for the services we provide, and our special relationship with Lloyds of London allows us the ability to guarantee our members they will have an aircraft when they need one.
